PLEASE NOTE:  Do not apply for this card if you work in a skilled occupation – it is for unskilled workers only and shows employers the holder is not on a recognised training pathway. You will be refused entry to site if you work in a skilled occupation but hold a Labourer card. 

STEPS TO OBTAINING YOUR GREEN LABOURER CARD

If you book your course with DGC, we will guide you thought all the necessary steps to obtain your card.

STEP 1:  When you register for this course you will be advised you must download the official CITB App to your smart phone (£6.99) to help prepare you for both your Level 1 course and your CITB Operatives Test.  For further details on how to download the app, please click here.  Please forward your receipt for purchasing this app to you DGC advisor and they will arrange for this to be refunded on the day you attend for your level 1 exam.

STEP 2:  You will attend our centre for a one day course that starts at 8.30am (and finishes around 4.30pm). This is tutor led training including initial skills analysis, safety DVDs and mock examinations, discussion and revision. If you meet the required standard by the end of the day you will then sit a closed book exam for the Level 1 Award.

STEP 3:  Once you successfully achieve your Level 1 award you will be booked to attend your nearest Test Centre to sit your CSCS Test: this is a touch screen test of 50 multiple choice question.  You are required to have specific ID to sit this test – click here for the full list.  If you do not have any photographic ID you will be required to complete a waiver form – and supply additional ID as stated on this form.  You can download a copy of the waiver form here.

SEP 4:  Once you pass both exams we will order your CSCS card which will be sent out to your home address.

From February 1st 2025, on first application the Labourer card will reduce from five years to two years, with workers who continue in labouring roles able to renew for five years by providing evidence they are employed in a labouring role. The accompanying CITB Health, safety, and environment test used for the initial two-year card application only will see its validity extended to three years, allowing it to be used for renewal.  Those who currently hold a Labourer card and wish to renew from February onwards will be eligible for another five-year card by providing the same evidence.
